Im editing my review previously made. This review is one month late, my apologies, however back at the end of June we met my parents at the grill for dinner. Im not sure what was going on but the service that night was ridiculous. We waited & waited to have our order taken. Finally someone came by to take it. Then the wait was in for food. Which, again took forever! We hardly saw our server. She was gone most of the time. Our water glasses were never refilled our drink were not attended to. It was a chore to stop the other server walking by to ask him for some ketchup and cutlery. Finally after everything was eaten, our glasses still empty the big wait was on, for the bill. It was nice to visit after dinner however we waited & waited & waited some more for our bill. No one came by, not once to check on us, not once to refill our glasses, not even to clear the dishes from the table. Finally the guy who had been taking care of the other tables in the restaurant stopped by and started to clear our table. He asked if we needed anything. I said yes. Wed like to go home wed like to leave please and wed like some water. We got our bill, paid and left. When we got outside we saw our server, the one who abandoned us earlier in the evening. She was out having a smoke. The only thing was the food was ok. Not as good as time past but ok. Ill give 2 stars for the food only. I always try to support the local places but this was a very frustrating experience I dont soon think well be back. Probably just go to Boston pizza. Heres my previous review below. (Great place! Good food! Friendly people. Sometimes it can be busy. But only at the dinner hour on weekends in the summer. )
After speaking with a waitress and sitting down as a solo diner at a table for two I was asked if I would like something to drink and I said yes I will have a water to start. I have never been to Pincher Creek and after a 9 hour drive I wondered over to The Grill hoping I would enjoy a nice steak dinner. Unfortunately I left after 10 mins of not receiving a simple water even after speaking to a second waitress and being walked past at least six times. Both waitresses had been at the bar three times and still didnt bring the requested water. I am not usually an impatient diner but the restaurant was far from busy with three servers on staff. The second waitress I spoke to had time to start setting empty tables but couldnt bring me a water and went and asked the first server to come serve me who then just walked past me again to other customers who had already been served. I left The Grill and went down the street to the local Chinese restaurant and not only did I receive a water without asking, I had my order taken, beer served, and meal in front of me within that same 10 mins I wasted at The Grill. Very disappointing when I really was looking forward to a steak.
Waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for fairly average meatloaf and potatoes. Wait staff actively avoided our table, and were oblivious to our increasing frustration, as well as new patrons entering the restaurant. It felt like everyone was hiding from the customers. The restaurant was quite quiet when we were there, so it's not like they were overloaded. At least the yam fries were tasty.
Great beef dip with home cut fries! Interesting decor and service with a smile! I Will definitely go back next time I am going through Pincher Creek.
Edit: I've talked to the owner and the issue has been resolved. He's a great communicator and I'm glad we got to talk on the phone. Changed the 1 star to a 3 from this conversationService was absolutely terrible. Server rarely visited our table. Fries were cold, and one friend appeared to receive reused fries that already had ketchup on them. It took forever to get the bills, refills on drinks, and our orders in when more guests arrived. I would never return here, or suggest it to anyone.
